Type: Architectural Support on Engineer Led Project
NLS Architect was contracted to provide the architectural support for the installation of a new Life Safety Generator into an existing building. This technical infrastructure scope of work was a multi-year project. Spanning the timeline of the pandemic along with a change in building management, NLSA worked with the client’s team closely to provide consistency throughout the duration. The project was led by the Engineer with Natasha providing architectural support and guidance.
Design
Finding a home for a new Generator is always a challenge. This upgrade had numerous challenges and the design process required intense coordination with the entire professional and execution team.
For this project, Function was clearly over Form. Providing the building management a space where they could function was the priority.
It’s all in the details! Providing the proper look of a vent is as important as providing the vent. It was of importance to the ownership that the aesthetics of the upgraded facade be maintained. Working with their building vendor, the NLSA team developed a solution that met all parties’ requirements.
Project Management
Knowledge is key! Having worked on many infrastructure projects, the professionals from NLSA were able to provide solutions to challenging issues. This project started at the beginning of the COVID Pandemic. As video conferencing became more acceptable, this allowed for everyone to share information. No longer did the team have to find time to meet onsite for every issue that came up. NLSA was fortunate to add knowledge by working with an engineer who is a generator expert. Working alongside that engineer, NLSA led the charge. This professional team worked together to complete this architectural project for the Bryan Park client on time and on budget.
